Assertiveness Workshop

Introduction

This course is suitable for all level of staff especially those in roles where thy are required to influence the actions of others and who need to display a confident and assertive approach.

This course includes a one day seminar which takes place approximately three months after the workshop.

Aims

At the end of the course individuals will be able to:

Demonstrate an assertive behavior style
Deal with complaints without becoming aggressive or non-assertive
Give direct criticism
Influence the behavior of others

What is Assertiveness?
Difference between aggressive, non-assertive and assertive behavior.
Assertive Techniques
Basic assertion, broken record, negative feelings assertion, fogging and discrepancy assertion.
Giving Direct Criticism
How to criticize behavior and not personality
Saying No
How to refuse without causing tension
Handling Difficult Situations
Real difficulties from the group explored
