Traffic Management for Managers and Inspectors

Introduction

This course is of interest to all personnel in the Contractor and Utilities industry involved in Traffic Management and supervision of safety and efficiency on the highway, at Management and Inspector Levels. Courses are flexible to concentrate on aspects most pertinent to role requirements.

Aims

To consider the field of Traffic Management with respect to Legality, Theory and Development, and Practical Site requirements. To develop understanding of how systems should be incorporated at road workings with signing, in order to increase efficiency and safety for both contractors and road users.

Objectives

At the end of the course candidates will be able to:

• Identify the signing and sighting of equipment on the highway as legal
• Recognize that equipment is working properly as to site requirements - understanding the theory and practice of vehicle actuation and system timings
• Be aware of the responsibilities of the highways contractor and the systems supplier and be able to deal with emergency situations with minimal delay
• Understand the field of traffic control and the facilities available to solve the problems encountered at different highway workings
