Working with Children with Disabilities
Aims of the Course
To introduce social services staff to the issues involved in working with
children with disabilities. It will highlight the numerous forms of disability
that children and young people currently live with and the ways in which society
may add to these challenges rather than help. The course will emphasize positive
ways of working with children with disabilities.
Methods
The course will be delivered through formal lecture inputs, case studies,
video material, group activities and discussion. Handouts will also be available
to accompany the session.
Outline of the Course
The final course content is attained following discussion with the
commissioning body in order to properly meet the needs of the target group.
