COSHH Awareness - CDROM

Who is this training for?

All managers, environmental officers, health and safety officers, machinery operators, and anyone who comes into contact with substances which can be hazardous to health in their everyday work.

This training package will introduce the COSHH Regulations 1994 to you, identifying hazards, weighing up risks arising from them and deciding what further action you need to take if the risks are significant - which all staff need to be aware of.

You will be able to:

  • Understand what COSHH means and what it covers.
  • Understand the need for formal assessments, prevention or control of exposure, monitoring, health surveillance, use and maintenance of control measures, and information and training.
  • Understand the difference between a risk and a hazard.
  • Ensure that you are properly informed on hazardous substances.

This training package contains:

  • Overview of relevant legislation, including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COHSE) which combine the provisions of the 1994 COSHH Regulations and the subsequent amendments that are now revoked.
  • Interactive questionnaire
  • Guidance on completing a risk assessment that is the basic legal requirement for all employers.
  • Information on Maximum Exposure Limits (MELs) and Occupational Exposure Standards (OESs).
  • General guidelines and reasons for controlling hazardous substances.
  • Optional link to COSHH Datasheet Manager program to provide an integrated training and document retrieval system for your company.
  • Total running time - around 25 minutes.
  • Full commentary (by Richard Joyce)
