Lift Maintenance

Introduction

This seminar is intended for engineers who are entering the field of Lift maintenance and installation of electrical or hydraulic Lifts that are used for the transportation of goods or passengers either as a new job or a change of duties. Lifts are inherently a dangerous item of equipment and safety will be of prime importance during the seminar. It will benefit people who have no knowledge or concept of the principles of this type of machinery.

Aims

The aim of this seminar is to give the delegate a basic understanding of the fundamentals of Lifts and the Electrical and Mechanical items that are fitted for safety purposes. It follows the basic principles and safe methods of fault finding, maintenance and items that the Lift Engineer should be aware of and the safety aspects of his work that must be followed.

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will have been shown how to:

  • ldentify reference sources and various legislation available
  • State the various options and periods of time for maintenance
  • Discuss Electrical and Mechanical safety features
  • Determine safe methods of working in the shaft and Lift motor rooms including the protection of staff and members of the public whilst such work is being carried out
  • ldentify the requirements for Inspections

All the above objectives will be carried out in accordance with current standards and practice used throughout the Electrical Lift lndustry and refer to British Standards and Health and Safety Regulations.
