Fire Awareness in the Workplace - CDROMFire is the single biggest threat to any business, whatever its size. More than 80% of businesses do not recover following a major fire, and those that do have to absorb significant losses.Raising staff awareness of potential hazards can avoid a fire starting in the first place, and training your staff to act responsibly in the event of a fire will ensure your workforce is protected should the worst happen.
This Interactive Fire Safety Training CDROM will:
The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations
1997 states that... They need to know what action should be taken in case of fire including: How to warn others, the location and use of escape routes, assisting visitors or members of the public, the location of a nominated assembly point, the use of the fire equipment provided and how to summon the fire service. The Legislation also states that: “Everyone should know what hazards the fire extinguishers are provided to cover and the danger of using the wrong type of extinguisher. Sufficient numbers of employees trained in the use of fire extinguishers should always be present when the workplace is occupied. The training provided should ensure these tasks are carried out efficiently and safely.” FIRE REMAINS THE SINGLE BIGGEST THREAT TO ANY BUSINESSWHATEVER THE SIZE OF YOUR COMPANY, ALL YOUR STAFF NEED FIRE AWARENESS TRAINING.Fire and Health and Safety legislation require employers to provide fire training for ALL staff by law. It also requires employers to train staff at least every 12 months. This is a financial strain on companies and can take up a disproportionate amount of time. “Fire Awareness in the Workplace”, has been designed to train all members of staff within an organisation in order to increase safety and aid compliance in the workplace. Empowering your staff with the knowledge & understanding of how to act responsibly in the event of a fire and raising awareness of potential risks and hazards, will ensure you operate within the law and protect your workforce and business against significant losses as a result of fire. 1. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?This section explains to the employee that the law requires them to co-operate with managers to ensure that the workplace is safe from fire and its effects. 2. NATURE OF FIREIn order for an employee to participate in the process of keeping the workplace safe from fire, they must have a basic understanding of fire and fire behaviour. This section explains “The Triangle of Fire”, “Fire Growth and Development”, and “Fire Spread”. 3. PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERSWhen most fires start they are very small, but if left to develop, they will grow and spread, causing a great deal of damage and threatening the occupants of the building. This section shows how to operate common fire extinguishers and the importance of using the right type of extinguisher on each type of fire. 4. FIRE SIGNAGESigns are used to communicate an important message to prevent disaster in an emergency, and even save lives. This section illustrates the different types of signage used and helps employees to understand their meaning and the importance of following their instructions. 5. FIRE HAZARDSFollowing an explanation of potential fire hazards that can occur in the workplace, employees are invited to explore an interactive 3D office in order to identify a number of fire hazards. 6. DISCOVERING A FIREThis section explains what action to take in the event of an emergency. Information includes “Raising the Alarm”, “Calling the Fire Service” and “Evacuating the Premises”. 7. TAKING THE TESTAfter completing the CDROM employees sit a 20 question multiple-choice test, which is evidenced by a printable certificate. 8. REFERENCE MATERIAL
Additional reference material is on the
CDROM including: A print out of “Calling the
Fire Service”, an outline of the “The Fire
Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 (as
amended)” and a notice of “Enforcement and
Offences”. The CD-ROM can be used as many times and by as many people as necessary. It is simple to use and runs directly from the CDROM so there are no files to install or uninstall. Training is evidenced by a printable certificate. Employees work through the program at their own pace, which will generally take approximately 30-40 minutes. After the program is completed a 20 question multiple-choice test is taken. On completion the employee can print a certificate as evidence of the training, showing: name, company, date of test, and the percentage score. When using the stand-alone disc the training must be completed in one session as the navigation history and test results will not be saved. Stand Alone CDROMThe Stand Alone CDROM is ideal for the smaller company and many find this totally adequate. It fulfils their training needs, it helps the company comply with the law, it is extremely cost effective, and management controls are simplicity itself - the certificates are filed and can be used as evidence of training if and when required. The course can be taken annually and the certificates updated. Trainer LicenceThe Trainer Licence is ideal for companies who wish to conduct their training in a classroom setting but still require an enhanced management control. The program is loaded onto a presentation computer or laptop.
Certificates printed with *company name of your choice. The training content is the same. After completing the training delegates can individually complete the 20 question multiple choice test. The test is printed beforehand by the trainer from an email supplied by Fire Safety Training, and is then marked. The delegates names and test scores are then emailed back to Fire Safety Training on a spreadsheet provided whereupon we supply certificates. *call for cost Multi-User LicenceThe Multi-User Licence is ideal for companies who require an enhanced management control, or whose training needs are spread over several sites.
The user’s progress is saved to the local machine but also uploads progress to a reporting server. This program can be installed on the company Intranet or on multiple site servers, which allows access by all employees. The reporting Extranet system records the progress of each employee and gives managers, via a dedicated client area, the information to monitor each individual and assess the scores they achieve. Cost dependent on number of users - but as low as £3.00 per user.
