Controlling The Contractor
Introduction
Contractors are used in all aspects of business. This course is designed for
persons who employ contractors to carry out work, to give them the knowledge
required to properly control them.
Aims
To give staff who employ contractors the knowledge to control them properly.
The Course Covers
- An overview of Common Law and the duty of care
- The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Legislation including the Construction Safety Regulations and other Acts
and Regulations, where they apply to the employment of contractors,
sub-contractors and the self employed.
- CDM Regulations
- The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations
- Local Codes of Practice in the employment of contractors
- RIDDOR (The Reporting of Incidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences)
and the First Aid accident reporting book.
- Risk Assessments of high risk areas
- Assessing Contractors Safety Documentation
- Approved Codes of Practices, records and Permits to Work.
- The use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Supervising a contractor on site
- Assessing a contractors competence.
