This course is suitable for all Managers who have people reporting directly
to them and have had a minimum of three months in their present role, or
attended an 'Introduction to Management' course not less than six months prior
to booking the course place.
The course also includes a one day review seminar. This takes place one month
after the course.
Aims
The course examines the following areas:
The Management Role - Skills and qualities of an effective manager,
Management styles, Pro-active and re-active management.
Leadership Skills - Action Centred Leadership and the interaction of the
Task, Team and Individuals. Leadership styles.
Motivation - The theories of Maslow, Aldefer and Herzberg explored and
examined. Gaining commitment, developing team spirit and individual ability.
Standards and Targets - Key result areas and key performance activities.
Skill competence analysis. Target and goal setting.
Management of Change - Principles of Organizational Development. Handling
human relations problems.
Objectives
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
Define the functions and skills of an effective manager
Set effective objectives and targets
Operate a Human Relations model
Manage change effectively
Recognize effective leadership actions and apply them
Develop and present an action plan for effective team building. The
progress of the action plan will be reviewed at the one day seminar.
