Introduction to Hazardous Substances

Course Aims

The overall aim of this programme is to leave delegates able to handle hazardous substances through general storage requirements or as a result of an accident (spillage etc.) in a safe and efficient manner.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of this programme members will be able to:

  • Identify hazardous substances from their substance identification numbers and labelling
  • Determine what action to take when handling and storing hazardous substances
  • Determine what action to take in the event of a spillage including notification of the appropriate bodies
  • These objectives will be confirmed by members completing question papers as the programme develops
