Fume Cupboard Face Velocity Testing Course
Course Aim
This course will enable trainees to use a thermal anemometer to take fume
cupboard face velocity measurements in accordance with HSE guidance, British
Standards and relevant manufacturers instructions.
Course Objectives
At satisfactory completion of the course, trainees will be able to:
- Set up a thermal anemometer ensuring correct zeroing has taken place
- Select the appropriate velocity range for the fume cupboard being tested
- List the relevant documentation for testing fume cupboards
- State the minimum period for which records should be kept
- Interpret relevant documentation
- Complete a face velocity test on a fume cupboard
- Document test results in a logical manner
- List other uses of the thermal anemometer
- State the action to be taken if the cupboard fails the test
Notes
It is the client’s responsibility to provide access to at least one working
fume cupboard for the practical aspects of this course.
Suggested maximum numbers of trainees is 8.
Actual maximum trainee numbers will depend on the number of fume cupboards
and anemometers available for the practical session. |
