Lift Inspection

Introduction

This course has been designed for engineers who are or have been in the field of Lift maintenance and installation of electrical or hydraulic Lifts and have been actively involved in this work during the last three years.

They must also have attended our Lift Maintenance or a comparable training course specifically aimed at Lift Systems. Due to the complexity of the installation and the dangers that exist our prime concern is Safety.

Therefore our decision on the suitability of either the course and/or the participants is to safeguard ourselves, the participants, their Company, the workforce and/or the general public at large.

The course will also include a one day overview of each participant as he carries out his duties on his own territory with a full report furnished.

Aims

The aim of this course is to give the participants a thorough understanding of the inspections and examinations that are required, by legislation, to be carried out on Lifts and the Electrical and Mechanical items that are fitted to them for safety purposes.

The course follows a set pattern of principles with a safe method of examination of all the required items that should be inspected, for the completion of the necessary documentation. The methods taught have been developed and updated, over the years and have been successfully used by a major national company whose safety record on their lifts is exemplary.

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will have been shown how to:

  • Carry out safe working practices for the examination of Electric Lifts
  • State the Legal aspects of the Lift examination with regard to the Factories Act (Hoists and Lift) Regulations, Offices Shops and Railway Premises (Hoists and Lift) Regulations and the HSE requirements as stated in Form PM7.
  • Define the term Competent Person
  • Give reasons for Altering Periods of Inspection
  • List Equipment and Persons required For Examination
  • Define a program of events including a Tick list for the examination
