Aims

To provide delegates with the skills and confidence to specify order and manage small works projects.

Who Will Benefit?

Anyone whose duties include the organization and management of minor works. This course is particularly relevant to newly appointed Premises and Facilities Managers. It assumes no prior knowledge or involvement and provides an excellent introduction and overview of the issues involved in successfully managing the process from inception to completion.

    • What is a specification?/what it is for/what it should contain
    • The use of standard specifications
    • Some "Golden Rules" of specification preparation/use
  • Health & Safety Issues
    • An overview of some of the Legislation
    • What is demanded of you and of others
    • Hazards, Risks, and the basics of Assessment
  • Contracts
    • Basic Contract Law: definitions/essential elements
    • The tendering process - an overview of procedures
    • Probity
  • Minor Works Contracts
    • The stages and issues involved in the process
    • Pre - start procedures
    • Controlling works and monitoring - time/cost/quality
    • Completion and handover
