Stress Management

Introduction

'Stress Management' or 'Living with Stress'. Please note that the content of a stress management programme will vary, depending particularly on whether it is run in a workplace or not. Workplace programmes should be preceded by a stress audit to establish the nature of stress and would include organizational as well as individual factors in the content. Discussion is therefore needed with appropriate key players in the organization to agree and establish a means of feed back for constructive suggestions and the organizational restraints which will limit discussions.

Aims

To increase participants awareness and understanding of the nature of stress and distress and coping strategies to achieve a workable balance in everyday lives.

Objectives

  • To define stress vs. distress and raise awareness of the physical effects.
  • To enable participants to recognize stressors, and develop problem solving approaches to them.
  • To enable participants to develop coping strategies, including relaxation which they can integrate into everyday lives.
