Objectives
To train course members in the safe use of oxy/acetylene welding equipment
and in advanced welding skills.
Aims
- To make course members aware of the techniques in positional welding
- To be able to weld in the flat, vertical and horizontal positions to an
acceptable standard.
- To be able to recognize faults and causes
- To be able to rectify faults
- To be able to select the correct nozzle
- To be able to select the correct size filler rod
- To be able to control distortion

- Set-up and tacking procedures

- Correct safety procedures

- Correct handling of equipment
- Set-up and tacking procedures
- Butt, lap, fillet and corner joints in the flat position
- Fillets and butts in the vertical position
- Correct torch and filler rod control
- Faults and causes
- Rectification of faults
- Correct welding techniques
- Practice to reach an acceptable standard
