This course is designed to enable participants to look at their own values in
relation to people who are physically disabled, (older people, gender issues,
sexuality, race, etc) and to move on in terms of valuing difference whilst
gaining an understanding of how people are treated differently because of their
disability, (age, race, sexual preference, class etc.)
Aims
To provide a safe environment where participants will feel able to look at
their own values.
To explore models of 'care', e.g. medical, social etc.
To examine what barriers exist for certain groups within society which
prevents them from being valued, looking at language, facts and myths etc.
To examine how such barriers can be overcome.
To work at how the learning points can improve practice within the
workplace and in the context of local communities, given current legislation
such as the 1990 NHS and Community Care Act etc.
Method
Study of employing organizations intended outcomes. Suitable method and
course content will then be agreed.
Course Duration
Two or three days
Max 12 participants.
Certification
A certificate will be issued to all participants who complete the course.
