Clerk of Works - Electrical/Mechanical

Introduction

The seminar is intended for electrical and mechanical planning and design engineers, electricians, fitters and those who are, or about to be, involved in running the site supervision as the Clerk of Works for Building engineering Services. It is also recommended that the delegate has a wide experience of Building Services, before attending the course.

Aims

The aim of this seminar is to give the delegate an understanding of the requirements of the Building Service Clerk of Works who are actively involved in new buildings, major extension work and/or refurbishment of electrical and mechanical items. It follows the basic principles of contract work and illustrates the relationship(s) that should exist on sites. It also looks at their duties and covers site security and methods of carrying out the important task of the site log book.

Objectives

At the end of the seminar participants should be able to:

  • Make accurate day to day entries in COW Diary
  • Identify the Safety aspects relevant to the COW
  • Identify the Fire Prevention aspects relevant to the COW
  • Check Site security and oversee Collections and Deliveries
  • Identify the various forms of Contract Package
  • Communicate effectively with all staff involved
  • Check that site work conforms to current legislation and safe working methods
  • Attend, and take an active part in Commissioning Tests.
  • Archive all relevant Contract Material
