Defensive Driving

Introduction

This course is designed for those who use cars and light vans on the road, who need to hone their driving skills. This course is a practical, introductory course involving hands on training in the vehicle.

The Course Covers

• The capabilities of the vehicle
• Controls and warning lights
• The system of car control - The correct sequence of actions for all hazards
• Advanced positioning - The vehicle to be at all times in a position of safety and to improve observation of road detail
• Acceleration, gears, braking and steering - Develop the skills to control the vehicle.
• Cornering - Understand the principles of safe cornering and forces acting on the vehicle
• Signals - The skill of using the correct signal and their purpose
• Overtaking - Develop the skills to overtake safely
• Motorway driving - All aspects of motorway driving
