Introduction

We all depend on others at work, and others depend on us.  But how often do we think of ourselves as a team?  The Motley Crew demonstrates with real impact why teams succeed or fail. 

We join in the central character, Jack ‘the hat’ Motley in prison after a bungled bank job.  It’s visiting time and his ex-boss Bernie, a successful gangster, has come to see his old mate Jack to find out what went wrong.

Jack tells the story of his first job as a newly promoted gang leader.  We meet the gang; the smooth con man, the specialist safecracker, the get-away driver, the inside woman, the muscle.  We watch Jack and the team, making some common mistakes and suffering the consequences.  They learn from their errors along the way and they almost pull it off.  But at the eleventh hour, one vital lesson about teamwork had not been learned, and disaster ensues.

After each flashback, Bernie contributes the wisdom of his experience as an effective team leader.  Finally, he offers a neat summing up of the essential elements of teamwork, before he leaves for his holiday in the Bahamas.  It seems that Bernie has pulled off another successful caper.  What follows is the best ending of any training video you’ve ever seen.
