Plain English - Video
Sometimes, an obsession with corporate jargon clouds the simple message
we’re trying to convey.
Mel has written a mission statement claiming that it is
a very important management tool. The purpose is to focus, let people
know where the company is going. Talking his ideas through with Griff, it is
clear that Mel is waffling! Griff takes the opportunity to explain that a
mission statement should be brief and clear – say what we mean, using plain
English.
Trainees are encouraged to ask who they are writing to, and
why? The video shows why using management language or jargon is often
unnecessary, and illustrates that it is communicating ideas clearly and
concisely.
